The Femili PNG team were happy to welcome US Ambassador to Papua New Guinea, Catherine Ebert-Gray, on her visit to Lae this month to discuss their important work with survivors of family and sexual violence.

Ambassador Ebert-Gray and Economic Officer, Brad Coley, made a surprise stop-over at the Femili PNG office to learn more about the organisation.

Ambassador Ebert-Gray said she was impressed to hear that many family and sexual violence cases were now being reported to authorities, and that survivors were being assisted.

In a letter thanking the team after her visit, Ambassador Ebert-Gray said that Femili PNG’s work was a highlight of her trip to “beautiful, charming” Lae.

“My time with your staff at Femili PNG was particularly inspiring,” the Ambassador wrote.

“You are doing such tremendous work to help the women and children of Lae and its surrounding areas,” she wrote.

“Please know that I value your work and will be telling your story throughout my travels in PNG.”
