Last month, the powerful documentary Power Meri had its very first community screening in New Zealand. The screening, organised by Nick Borthwick and the Brekkie Kōrero Group, took place in Wellington.

The screening was organised as a fundraiser, and we were pleased and honoured when Power Meri filmmaker Joanna Lester selected Femili PNG as the recipient of the proceeds from the screening. We were thrilled to receive a donation of $NZ 600 from the Brekkie Kōrero Group in Wellington New Zealand.

Our sincerest thanks to Joanna and Nick for their generosity. It is great to see Power Meri, with its strong message of women’s empowerment, being so widely screened.

If you haven’t already seen it, Power Meri follows Papua New Guinea’s first national women’s rugby league team, the PNG Orchids, on their journey to the 2017 World Cup in Australia. You can find further details on the film here
