IMG_4635 IMG_4628On his first official visit to Lae in January 2016, new Australian High Commissioner to PNG Mr Bruce Davis visited the team at Femili PNG to learn more about their work supporting survivors of family and sexual violence.

On the visit, Mr Davis and his wife met with the staff of Femili PNG’s Case Management Centre, and discussed their approach to supporting survivors through case management and by working with other local service providers, such as the police, safe houses and family support centre.

Mr Davis asked about how the Femili PNG staff manage their stressful role, and heard about the team’s weekly debriefings, case discussions, case reviews and case conferences with other partner service providers to create a supportive environment and to foster collaboration to achieve the best outcomes possible on complex cases.

Mr Davis told the team that his visit to hear about Femili PNG’s work had made it clear to him just how valuable and important it was.

Femili PNG is generously supported in its work by the Australian aid program, and a range of other partners.
